The 8VC project was an interior remodel and retrofit for a venture capitol firm in San Francisco. The project work included the relocation of shear walls and the installation of new moment frames in an existing two-story building built on top of a concrete pier structure. The existing building also included a partial mezzanine level between the first and second floor. On the 2nd floor, walls were relocated around the new office layout, and on the 1st floor, new moment frames were added and tied into the mezzanine providing additional lateral support for the 2nd floor and the mezzanine level. In order to support the new moment frames, the existing concrete piers were also strengthened.
