8VC was an interior remodel and retrofit for a venture capitol firm in San Francisco. The project work included the relocation of shear walls and the installation of new moment frames in an existing two-story building built on top of a concrete pier structure. The existing building also included a partial mezzanine level between the first and second floors. As part of the new office layout, walls on the second floor were relocated, while new moment frames were added on the first floor and tied into the mezzanine to provide additional lateral support for both the second floor and mezzanine level. In order to support the new moment frames, the existing concrete piers were also strengthened.
