BD / Marketing Director

PARADIGM Structural Engineers is a distinguished and progressive structural design firm located in
downtown San Francisco. PARADIGM provides ground-up design and seismic retrofits in many market
sectors including Mission Critical, Life Science & Biotechnology, Healthcare, Education, Commercial &
Retail, and Hospitality. PARADIGM has projects throughout the United States, exposing us to a multitude
of design challenges requiring creative, intelligent solutions.


PARADIGM is seeking a Business Development/Marketing Director to join our team. This role would
include 70% client development and relationship management and 30% marketing coordinator
functions to maintain proposals, design and submit qualifications, and maintain the client relationship
management database.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitor client activities to create recommendations and identify and/or develop new
    opportunities.
  • Collaborate with and support Principal and key technical professionals in support of firm’s
    strategic business development goals
  • Track and coordinate follow-up on all project opportunities in QuickBase (firm CRM/accounting
    software) and conduct client research, as needed
  • Coordinate and perform intelligence-gathering to deepen understanding of key markets, clients,
    strategic partners, and competitors
  • Identify and implement targeted client engagement initiatives (conferences, speaking
    engagements, etc.) to support market sector business plan targets
  • Conduct client feedback on proposal efforts
  • Respond to general inquiries and direct project leads to appropriate technical team member
  • Maximize firm exposure and serve as an ambassador of the firm at key events.
  • Identify engagement and exposure opportunities in the local design and civic communities
  • Provide client related input for proposals and presentations to ensure messaging is client-
    focused and relevant
  • Manage qualification material, coordinate PR/e-blast material, maintain marketing material and
    seek out additional marketing initiatives.
  • Work with Principal on strategic planning efforts and Excel spreadsheet input and analysis.
  • Facilitate, organize the annual charitable event.

Key Experience, Education and Background

  • Degree in Marketing, Architecture or related fields; technical background a plus
  • Experience in implementing a client development and retention process. This experience should
    include opportunity/client research, lead tracking and follow-up as well as data analysis and
    reporting
  • Experience in creating and implementing training/mentoring programs for technical staff, with a
    preference for business development and client retention
  • Intermediate understanding of Adobe InDesign Creative Suite, Excel, and Database Management
  • Superb grammatical and writing skills

CAD Drafter

PARADIGM is a growing firm currently seeking to expand our CAD drafting department. We are seeking highly motivated, adaptable drafters with good communication and critical observation skills to join our fast-paced working environment and personable team.

General Areas of Responsibility

Job duties will include the preparation of construction documents (plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.) using AutoCAD. CAD technician will generally work from engineer’s markups and sketches with minimum supervision to create construction documents according to established company standards and procedures. The ideal candidate has experience with structural engineering or architectural drafting and is looking to make a long-term career move. Experience and knowledge of Revit Structure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Structural or architectural drafting experience
  • Familiarity with structural engineering drawings and details
  • Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD to create construction documents according to office standards and best practices.
  • Work from Engineer’s markups and sketches with minimum supervision

 

Staff Engineer

PARADIGM Structural Engineers, Staff Engineers experience a high level of involvement with Principal and Senior Associates as a small firm. Our relative size allows us to maintain a level of developing generations of future engineers to become leaders within the engineering community. 

Responsibilities include structural analysis, computer modeling, calculations, structural design and preparation of construction documents. Staff engineers will collaborate as part of a design team under the supervision of a project engineer or principal. 

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • MS and EIT preferred
  • Individuals should have 2+ years of increasing engineering experience in seismic analysis and design, as well as experience in preparing plans and detail drawings. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and software such as MS Word & Excel, Enercalc, and ETABS or SAP is helpful. 

Project Engineer

Responsibilities include structural analysis and design, preparation of design documents including calculations, drawings and reports, and supervision of staff engineers within a design team. Project engineers will generally collaborate with a design team with a staff engineer and senior project engineer or principal. Project engineers are also responsible for maintaining client relationships, performing quality assurance functions, developing training programs for the firm, and assuring their projects are completed on-time and within budget. 

 

Qualifications

  • BS in civil/structural engineering, from an accredited University, with a curriculum     including seismic analysis and design
  • MS and PE preferred
  • Minimum of 4+ years of design office experience in seismic analysis and design using various construction materials (wood, steel, concrete, light gage steel, masonry) and the ability to independently develop construction drawings.
  • Experience with DSA and OSHPD preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to prepare comprehensive reports a must.
  • Familiarity with AutoCad and software such as MS Word & Excel, Risa, Ram, Enercalc, and ETABS or SAP required
  • Experience in non-linear analysis strongly recommended
  • Two or more years of management experience preferred
