intelligent structural solutions
Daly City, California
This project consisted of the replacement of an existing, very successful and well used Community Center. The most significant challenge to this facility was to meet the City’s construction budget and maintain the level of service the existing Community Center provided. In order to facilitate this restriction, it was determined to incorporate a masonry exterior. In order to maintain interest in the interior spaces, the architect elected to have as many vaulted ceilings as were possible. This created a challenge to transfer lateral loads to the vertical masonry walls, which resisted the lateral seismic forces. $2M construction cost.
