Paradigm was selected as the structural consultant for this project consisting of a Gymnasium, Fitness Center, Day Care Center, Library and Community Center, all housed within approximately 27,000 gsf. One of the challenges to the facility was the hillside site location. An innovative “permanent soil retention system” was incorporated to assist the City in reducing the construction costs.
Additionally, due to the limited site space, the Day Care Center and Library were forced to rest atop the Gymnasium and Fitness Center. Due to the Library loads, a truss system was selected to span the Gymnasium and allow for passage of mechanical ductwork within the depth of the truss. $7M construction cost.
